In 2017, it was the special year, “The Year of Japan-India Friendly Exchanges” for Japan and India. “During the visit of H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India to Japan in November 2016, the two Prime Ministers agreed to mark the year 2017 as a year of Japan-India friendly exchanges to further enhance people-to-people exchanges between Japan and India. The year 2017 also marks the 60th anniversary since the Cultural Agreement came into force in 1957. On this occasion, various commemorating events will be held in both countries. It is expected that friendly relationship will be further strengthened through such events so that mutual exchanges in various levels and fields will be further deepened and mutual understanding will be further promoted.” (From Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan’s website) “The 2017 The Year of Japan-India Friendly Exchanges Commemorative Events” which played a role such a specific movement, and also a remarkable event was selected this website and the Society for India and Onagawa as a commemorative event each in this time.
May 2017
“Namaste India in Onagawa” was held in this year like last year. It is the 2nd times of Namaste and also it was on the 4th of May during Golden Week Holidays, Japanese Spring Vacation at first time. Event which was blessed with God and Good Weather was succcessful with many locals and guests as well. There was built a new shopping plaza,”HAMA TERRACE” in 2016. There was “MACHINAKA KOURYUKAN HALL” which was a main hall of Namaste India in Onagawa. People moved between two bulidings with fun. Facilities was working as going according to script. Mr. Yoshiaki Suda, Town Mayer of Onagawa, was standing and staring at the scene in joyful and happiness. Kalaripayattu was delivered by Indian Council for Culture Relations, ICCR in this year. And also there were some Japanese danceres and performers, yoga demontration by the local Japanese yoga instractor, selling some Indians foods, clothes and goods etc. with volunteer and help.
September 2017
Annual Event, Namaste India 2017 was held in Yoyogi Park on the 23rd of September. There was “Onagawa House” in this year as well. We sold some local foods of Onagawa there, and added a new item for drinking a cup of Onagawa Coffee which blended with an image of Onagawa there as well. At the sametime, the house showed the rerationship between Onagawa and India was going on. We made a luxury space which expressed the relationship between Onagawa and India to all guest. And also we did announcing and calling for The First Society for India snd Onagawa which will be held in the next month. Much apparaciated with Mr. Tokio Hasegawa, the chairman of NPO Society to Promote India-Japan who has given a chance to do so.
October 2017
The Society for Indi and Onagawa, it was held in October, 2017. Please check the Charter of it if you want to know more details. The 1st memorial one was held in Shibuya Campus, Kokogakuin University on the 21st of October. The history has been started between India and Onagawa since March 11th Disaster, 2011. The Society due to be succeeded, spreaded and told to generation and generation. Hoping that the place for be able to argue about India and Onagawa active by all any genrue. Additionally, Dr. Hemant Sharma who is the Official Yoga Instructor from VCC of Embassy of India, Tokyo had given a Yoga Memorial Lecture and a Yoga Special Demonstration. The 1st Society was done very well.
